Banish These Common Menopause Complaints

Banish These Common Menopause Complaints

Menopause can be one of the most challenging times in a woman’s life. In fact, during this time, women can suffer from a range of complaints that go from mildly frustrating to debilitating. The good news is that there is often something that can be done to alleviate such issues. Read on to find out more.

Insomnia

Not being able to sleep is one of the many issues that women struggle with during menopause. In fact, it can end up feeding into other problems such as depression and anxiety. Fortunately, there are some steps you can take to make getting to sleep and staying asleep easier.

One of these is to make sure you get enough physical exercise during the day. Additionally, if you struggle with regulating your temperature during the night, investing in a summer duvet, and cotton or linen sheets can help keep you cool and dry enough to stay asleep for longer.

Hot flashes

One of the most common issues that women going through menopause have are hot flashes.  Although common, they are not normal and many women attempt to struggle through them without seeking help.

However, there most definitely is help available for this issue, such as using simple, practical solutions like a cooling gel or ice pack when they strike. Alternatively, some women find that their hot flashes (along with other menopausal symptoms) are relieved by natural supplements or hormone replacement therapy (based on their health history). Check with your doctor for options that are available to you.

Other health issues

Unfortunately along with menopause, many women experience a rise in the incidence of other health issues, especially problems such as bacterial vaginosis, known as BV. The reason for this is that the hormonal changes that occur in the body during menopause leave us more vulnerable to such things.

The good news is that you don’t have to just put up with conditions like BV during menopause. In fact you can now get effective bv medication over the counter at a pharmacy. Something that makes it much faster and easier to treat than it has ever been.

Depression

Mood changes during menopause are also common, especially those associated with anxiety and depression. Yes, I know that it seems as if us ladies have enough to deal with without this kicking in as well. However, all is not lost as there are some proactive steps you can take to help manage these issues.

The first is to make sure that your diet and nutrition is as healthy as possible. You may want to incorporate a more whole-food-based diet. A Mediterranean diet is one of the best for menopausal women.

Additionally, do not forget that anxiety and depression are not extra burdens that we need to shoulder as women. With that in mind, if you feel your mood is suffering, then reaching out for help and support is one of the most important things you can do.
